The Contemporary Commoning Team is delighted with the nomination of Black Water by RAAAF for the Amsterdam Award for the Arts 2022 in the category Art Work of the Year. Black Water was a temporary intervention in the former silos on Amsterdam’s Zeeburgereiland, and took place in November 2021 as part of the Contemporary Commoning research project. Laurien Saraber, director of the Amsterdam Fund for the Arts wrote about the nominations: “I think it’s great to see how the six nominees hold up a mirror to us, inspire us and challenge us to look differently at the city. (..) The nominees master the art of giving new meanings to places in Amsterdam like no other, they know how to connect neighborhoods and the world. With their powerful work they color outside the lines, and outside the ring (road).” De winners of the Amsterdam Award for the Arts 2022 will be announced in October.
